I believe that teaching is, and should be, collaborative. In my education, I am taught by many experienced teachers and researchers as part of my degree. I value my colleagues, mentors, and professors, and the different experiences and perspectives that each person in my teaching community brings. However, my teaching community is limited to those around me.
I see this especially in my own work with the Program of Intensive English (PIE) at NAU, which suffers from a lack of communication with other educators in different fields. The PIE is trying to update their courses and overall curriculum to be better suited to a communication age, and to learn how to perform better. Through this site, I hope to educate others on ESL practices and how to make their American students more well-rounded academics, and to promote discourse between teachers that can be used by my program.
Let’s create good ideas together!
